We were going to go to Lassen, but it was closed due to much snow. So we started driving to Reno. About 30 minutes later we noticed signs for Lava Beds National Monument. We didn’t know what it was but we decided to stop. It turns out it is a bunch of lava tube caves that you can explore. We first went to Mushpot. It was the only cave that had lights. Then we went to Thunderbolt, the hardest of the hardest caves. But half of the cave was closed due to baby bats. Then we convinced Mommy to go down into Golden Dome, which had a really steep and tight ladder to get into it. It was also very dark in there. We went to a couple more caves. I loved this park. I really want to go back and go to all the caves next time. We also got our junior ranger badges there. Then we drove to Reno.
